Now where did I put ...

I wonder have you ever moved house?  It might not have been a full scale move, it might have been moving out to college or to an extended vacation.  My family, however, have just moved lock, stock, and barrel (indeed several barrels worth!) to the newly refurbished rectory.  Our new home is wonderful, even though it resembles a cardboard box factory.  Things that were safely stored away inie months ago are now hidden in cardboard boxes.  They are in the correct room but some still await being returned to their rightful place.

In my own walk with God there have been aspects which get packed away: a truth or experience of God that I treasure.  As such it gets safely stored.  Sometimes as a memory and other times as a companion to my daily living out of my faith.  Yet, I wonder have you ever put something in a 'safe place'?  I'm sure you know how the script runs,"Now where did I put ..., I know I put it in a safe place!"  When it is needed it can be difficult to find!

My journey through everyday living is not always easy and sometimes it is the others God has brought into my life, my wife, my children, friends, opponents, who remind me of a truth which has been put away safely.  The Christian life is one built on relationships, relationship with God and with one another.  we (together) are the body of Christ.  We are intended by God to help and hone one another as disciples.  Do not forget the truth that it is together with our brothers and sisters in Christ that we express Jesus to the world: 'You (pl) are the Body of Christ ... individually members of it.'
