'Who will give the best of their creative gifts so that suffering throughout the world might be alleviated?'It struck me, perhaps, because we have just completed a 'Network' Course that looks at the spiritual gifts that God has given to the church. What has he given us as a passion and how do our gifts help us make that passion a reality in the world?
The local church is where God calls us to use the gifts that he has given us. I have been thinking about how God desires us to use our gifts. These are gifts given to build up the church. When a healthy and functioning church is living in the local community we make a difference. In our campaign 'Each on, Reach one' each of us will be attempting to make a difference one life at a time. The quote above makes me consider where I am prepared to use the best of what God has given me to make a difference in my local community. For me I have to answer, "Yes!"
"Unless a seed falls to the ground and dies, it remains a single seed!" Jesus.
I am challenging myself about my motivation, about my reason for serving. Perhaps in the local church we need to remember our calling to reach out! Those who are yet to embrace God or his message of love should be our priority. Bro. Roger was asking how import alleviating suffering was, was it important enough to give your best!? Perhaps we need to ask how important is it to allievate Hell, are we willing to give the best of our creative gifts to help others escape it?
